Veliki Bokolj (274 m) is the highest point of the island of Pašman. It is also one of the five resting spots that are a part of a 13.25 km long recreational and education trail that runs from the peak of Bokolj to the Soline bay.
When you reach the top, you can enjoy the amazing view of Pašman, Pašmanski kanal and Vransko jezero. You can also enjoy the view of Velebit, that stretches on the horizon from the north-west to the north-east, Crnopac, and, when the visibility is good, Dinara and Promina on the east, Svilaja further south and the hills in the hinterland of Šibenik. In the direction SE, you can see the island of Ugljan and then Vrgada, and far on the horizon the islands of the Šibenik archipelago: Zlarin, Kaprije and Žirje. If you take a look in the direction SSE to WNW, you will see the islands of Kornati, Žut and Dugi otok, in front of which you will be able to see Iž and Rava. On the NW horizon you will see the western island of the Zadar Archipelago: Sestrunj, Molat, Ist, Silba and Olib.
When you reach the very peak of Veliki Bokolj, you will have to take a couple of stone stare to get to a round stone viewpoint with a panoramic telescope. On the rock on the inner side of the viewpoint there is an inscription of the name and altitude of the peak.
Veliki Bokolj can be reached from several directions – on foot, by bike or car. There is also an interpretation board “Veliki Bokolj” that introduces visitors to the national parks and nature parks that can be seen from the top.
The unobstructed view is the reason why Veliki Bokolj attracts many visitors who come to enjoy and experience breathtaking sunrises and sunsets here.
