This trail will take you on a journey through time, into the past, in the time of the ruins of the Roman villa and the St. John’s church. The route begins near the St. Mary’s church in the old part of town Sali and follows the old road to the Telašćica bay. At the same time, you pass between numerous olive groves that people still diligently cultivate today, and which reciprocate with a gift in the form of a golden drop. The beforementioned path is partly macadam, but it is also possible to cross it by bicycle.

The legend of Sliv

Long ago, Sliv, a creature of wrinkled and dry skin with sparse hair and occasional warts and scabs all over his body, which always had its magical wand with it, was hiding in the dry stone walls of Dugonjiva field. There were stories about him that were passed on from generation to generation, but no one has ever met a man who would confirm that he has ever seen Sliv. This was the case until one day, when an old woman decided to rest in the shade of a dry-stone wall after working all day in the field. Sliv crept up from behind her, cast a spell on her with his wand paralyzing her and then sucked all the flesh out of her body. Only the bones remained, which he turned into dust with a single breath.

However, her life energy only rejuvenated him a little, so Sliv decided to bring her back to life under the condition that she would not tell anyone what had happened. But the old woman could not resist and she told the whole village about meeting Sliv. The next morning no one could find the old woman. The only thing they found was a pile of ashes in the middle of her kitchen.
