This trail starts in the center of Božava and climbs towards the hotel. Continuing further along the sea, it passes along two bays and continues the ascent towards the Nativity of Mary Church. On 2/3 of the climb there is a bench with a beautiful view of the entire Zadar archipelago. From the church, the path to the right continues towards the village of Dragove and leads to another picturesque church with a cemetery. The trail then brings you back in time to military tunnels where the army once hid its warships; by goat path to the first tunnel and then by road to the second, larger tunnel. The final part of the trail is the road that leads along the coast all the way back to Božava.
The Bakuši from Dragove
The Bakuši were small creatures, round, ball-sized, with small eyes and ears at the top and small wiggly legs at the bottm, but they were mostly recognizable by their hands, which had something resembling knives on their top. These knives were hard and sharp like a diamond and they used them to make holes in the rocks, where they would crawl in search of copper. It was long believed that they fed on it, but later it was revealed that the truth is quite different. The Bakuši had a constant itching all over their body, and the only thing stopping it for a while was the copper powder they would sprinkle all over their body. Do you admire the capabilities of an army that has managed to make such large tunnels in hard rock? The truth is that the army only took advantage of the holes Bakuši had made earlier in the search for copper, which is abundant in the rocks near the village of Dragove, but this must be kept a military secret.
