Strada Publica is an ancient road that dates back to the Roman era (1st century). The hiking trail is an excellent achievement of the traditional architecture that connects Mali and Veli Lukoran. During the Middle and Modern Ages, the trail connected the Sandalić houses with the arable land on the Trpinjin hill (Monte Terpigna) and the area called Vrh (Varch).
Strada Publica has been largely preserved in its original dimensions. It follows the configuration of the hilly terrain in a length of 1.15 km, with a height difference of about 80 m. The trail is not paved, but built with traditional dry stone technique using the local stone. The oldest sections of the road are located at the top of the trail. The trail was mostly used to take the cattle to pasture, mainly goats, sheep and donkeys.
