In Varoš, a hamlet on the island of Ugljan, there is a little church over eight centuries old. The church was first mentioned in 1374, and it is assumed that it was once a parish church. There is a wall surrounding the church and within that fenced area remains of a cemetery were found, which are still visible today.
The church was built as a single-nave church with an attached vestry as an extension, as wide as the nave, and thus has the shape of an elongated, deformed rectangle. The front of the church comprises a small quatrefoil oculus and a double bell-gable with one bell. In the 19th century, the church got a baroque altar, and in 1895, Fra Josip Rossi painted the altarpiece depicting the Blessed Virgin Mary with Saint Hippolytus and Cassian. Subsequently, that painting was damaged and had to be removed. It was replaced by a new altarpiece painted by Dragan Jelavić, a painter from Zadar. The feast of St Hyppolytus and Cassian is celebrated on 13th August.
In 2009, the church was included in the register of cultural property of the Republic of Croatia.
