This trail starts at village Veli Rat and follows the coast all the way to a point where it rises to the local road leading to the Slatina bay. From that bay it turns left next to a small pond towards the Punta Bjanka lighthouse. Nearby there is a camp near which the trail continues all the way to the North Side of the island. By circling the far end of the island, the trail returns back to the lighthouse, after which it passes through a beautiful pine forest alley. In the middle of the alley it turns towards a beautiful field. Passing through the field it comes to the same road from the beginning which leads back to Veli Rat.

The phantom of the lighthouse

It is a a well-known fact that 100.000 egg yolks were used in the construction of the Punta Bjanka lighthouse. However, a few people know that these yolks came from hen eggs which were collected by a particularly cheerful and joking young man all over the island and brought to the construction site every morning. When the lighthouse was nearing completion, the young man decided to experience the view from its top, but accidentally slipped and fell to his death. Workers covered him with a white sheet until the coroner arrived.

But the young man’s humor did not leave him even in death. He made two eye holes on the sheet and has been wandering through the lighthouse rooms at night ever since, making a noise here and there, swapping places of some objects or simply just resting in a corner of the room or on the steps of the lighthouse. All in order to scare the live ones and then laugh at them. Everyone knows him as a Phantom, and he may show up at one of the lighthouse windows or you might notice him after your vacation in the holiday photos.
