The scenic bay of Brbišćica (Brbinjšćica) is located on the southwest side of Dugi Otok. The azure colour of the sea and the white sand combined with the overwhelming scents of aromatic Mediterranean herbs will make you feel in paradise and relax all your senses. Brbišćica can be reached by boat and by car.
A wider area of Dugi Otok around the bay of Brbišćica, from the Zmorašnji Vavošćak bay to Kameničina cape, is built of carbonate rocks of limestone and dolomite, formed in the Cretaceous geological period, i.e. about a hundred million years ago.
This geological-geomorphological site is known as the location where a marine fossil reptile was found (100 million years BC). This finding is the first example of a genus of small marine reptiles that survived the turn from Cenomanian to Turonian and could represent a “missing link” between the genera (Pontosaurus, Adriosaurus, Aigialosaurus, Coniasaurs and Dolichhosaurus). Additionally, this site was recognised as one of the top scuba diving destinations on the Adriatic.
In the immediate vicinity of Brbišćica there are two natural attractions that cannot be skipped: Zmajevo oko (the Dragon’s Eye) and sea cave called Golubinka.
