Nowadays, Rivanj is an island with a preserved nature and a very rich submarine area that attracts many divers. There is only settlement on Rivanj and it has only 23 people. When on the island, explore its elevated parts and visit the remains of the Liburnian fortifications (Vela glava) or dive into the waters of Rivanjski kanal (Rivanj Channel), which is an attractive destination for sport fishermen. In the past, the population of the island lived of fishing and agriculture. The island was also very attractive to the Lantanas, a noble family from Zadar, who bought Rivanj in the 17th century. Spend time outdoors, climb Lokoćin (112) the island’s highest peak, visit the church of St. Helena (Sv. Jelena) from the 19th century and explore the remains of the medieval church of St. Barbara.
